History

"Calomagon "is a tree, the bark and roots of which is used for dying clothes .It was abundant in this place long before the Barangay was inhabited .Another version goes that a huge Calomagon tree grew in the middle and where the kasolterohan or the young men gather around especially during moonlit nights (1).
Calomagon was already organized as a Barrio even before, American Occupation period .In 1898 under the first Philippine Republic , during the election for municipal officials , a certain Don Pablo Sus headed Calomagon as Cabeza (2) In sense , Calomagon is already more than a hundred years old Records are not available , however , as to when it was formally organized . the first families who settled here were the Gracillas , the Gratils and the Grafilos. (3)
Calomagon is an interior barangay and people had to traverse foot and carabao trails to reach the Poblacion of Bulan until 1969 when the road opening
connecting Calomagon to Somagongsong was initiated by Mayor Luis G. de Castro ,Sr. The road was constructed by the 51st Army Engineeri Construction Company headed by Lt. Leonardo Atienza (4).
Education for the people of Calomagon also started as early as the 1930 's in a lot owned by the government . Gabaldon -type building was built around the time .The first teacher was certain Mr. Enterio Emperial .In 1955 ,Luis de Castro ,not yet a Mayor then ,donated a one hectare lot where the elementary school was constructed .
During the Japanese Occupation, two brothers surnamed Maldo were arrested by the Japanese soldiers because they had USAFFE soldier brother. They were said to have been tied to a Pili tree in the property of Laurente Grafilo , tortured and beheaded.
During Martial law , the people of calomagon were also harassed and threatened by the conflicting parties then, Some of them fled to safer places elsewhere in Bulan.
The old folks also recall that it was Senor Pascual Cardoso , grandparent of Senor Laurente Grafilo who brought the image of San Pascual Bailon
became the patron saint of the barangay.
Calomagon is 419.33 hectares in area .It is 4.5 kilometers from the poblacion ,accessible by land transportation .To the north it is bounded by Recto ,
south ,Somagongsong ;east San Francisco and the west Antipolo .Most of the land is planted to rice and coconut ,from which residents earn their living .
Calomagon is composed by five sitios ;Sentro , San Jose Pinaradan ,Lumbang ,Buntay, and Calle boton. The traditional fiesta is held every May 17 in honor of San Pascual Bailon ,san Jose , May 3-4, while Buntay every May 14-15 , the people of Sitio Jose with 76 families and 509 people attempted to separate from Barangay Calomagon . There was even a Municipal Council Resolution No. 59-77, but this move did not prosper.

In 2004, Calomagon became a vital site for the local government's enviroment program when the Bulan Ecological Park was opened at what was located along the inararan jurisdiction , yet it was situated closer to the calomagon barrio site and the local road to it traverse Calomagon. which is why the barangay claims ownership to it ,since 2004 , the annual celebration of the LGU Fiesta sa KABUBUDLAN was held at the Bulan Ecopark.

Some of the leaders of the barangay were :1920's Cabezas de Barangay Laurente Grafilo; Barrio Lieutenant Simeon Golloso(1938) ;Sabas Gratil and Pedro Montalban in the 1940's Jose Gleabo ,Victorio Gernale ;Teofesto Gratil (c. 1961) Ramon Gracilla ,Marcelo Sambajon in the 1950;s Elly Golloso
Olimpio GerongaSr., Domingo dela Rosa , Modesto Sambajon ,Roberto Geronga,Edna S. dela Rosa.

It is also worth mentioning that Calomagon is home to one of the renowned local boxers by the name of "Juan " Johny Bon , who made a name in local boxing around the 1960s to the 1970s ,Luarente Grafilo ,who later on became a President Municipal of Bulan was a resident of this place.

Ambassador Tomas Gerona De Castro who owns tracks of land in Calomagon and Inararan donated 11 hectares of his land to the Local Government unit in 1996 to be utilized as the town's garbage site and later on his area was developed into Ecological Park.
