History

Originally, this barangay was a very small village named Bililan and this was a sitio of barangay Sabangan, the former name of Caramoran. Bililan was situated near the bank of the deep Hilacan River which was then noted for crocodiles.
During the early days, both side of the bank of Hilacan River near this villages were then thickly forested, there were wild pigs, deer's and other wild animals that could be found. This village was also noted for BURO, the local term for bamboo which was growing abundantly along the both sides oaf the river banks. Animal hunters from nearby villages and barangays used to hunt wild animals in the forest using sharpened buro or bamboo as the instrument for hunting.
Between the 17th and 18th century, Sitio Bililan was the favorite hiding place of the Moro pirates. They love to hide in this place because of the thick buro or bamboo tree lined along the river banks of the Hilacan River. It also serves as the hiding place during the Spanish Era. Buro was also used by Moro in making banca or boat which they used in sailing along the river banks.
When the Spaniards surrendered to the Americans, the latter set foot on this village. Like the Spaniards, the Americans appreciated very much the location of the place especially the big bamboo trees surrounding the village . The Americans used these bamboos in making their temporary shelter and also for making rafts which they used in crossing the crocodile noted river. The latest invaders realized the great used and importance of buro trees which were plenty enough which prompted them to call or change the name to IKANBURO, now CAMBURO which was purposely derived from the word BURO or BAMBOO to enhance the name of the very useful tree which greatly make the village prominent. Today the place is officially recognized as BARANGAY CAMBURO.
