Vision

“By the year 2025, Barangay of Agban is a progressive and self-reliant community with the great help of the Almighty God. This Barangay is a serene and peaceful place to live in. With healthy and well-informed residents who are God-fearing and peace loving, participate in local governance to sustain its environment and promote eco-tourism balance to control its natural geo-hazards.”

Mission

“The Barangay Agban aim to develop a God-fearing community with loyalty to the Mother Land, abiding all precepts and decrees imposed by the Democratic Government. That all inhabitant live peacefully, enjoying all God’s gift that can be found in its very nature, developing their talent and skills to enhance their abilities as good citizen ready to offer their service for the common good of Agbananon.”

Goal

1. To provide accessibility to all basic needs and services required for the upliftment of the socio-economic condition of the constituents;
2. Provide employment opportunities by encouraging the community to establish/create cooperatives, introducing livelihood programs/projects, including training and seminars for the purpose;
3. Increase agricultural and aquacultural production;
4. Enhance the delivery of health and sanitation services;
5. Boost our disaster preparedness through the construction of storm surge protective structures (Seawall), dissilting of rivers and waterways, and reforestration projects to avert the occurrence of flashfloods.

History

=ORIGIN OF BARANGAY AGBAN=
It was a realm of beauty, trees of every kind are seen everywhere and several creeks laced it surface.
Even before the Spaniards came to this place, it was known for hunting area. Birds of different species are all flying attractively in their vibrant and glowing colors.
But all of the birds that hunter most likely to hunt is the “Agbaan”. Aside from its beautiful features, it was also known for delicious meat that people enjoyed eating and to others it serves as meat supply for food. This kind of birds is most likely to a pigeon that usually with brown color. This bird was mentioned in the Bible, the kind of bird that was offered by Joseph and Mary in temple of Jerusalem.
One day, a certain Spaniards went to this place to hunt. And every blown of his gun, several birds will killed. Contented with his catch, he decided to go home. While on his way home, he kept on thinking how he will know the name of this place. Finally, he decided to ask the person he met. He was about to cross a creek when he met a boy, he immediately asked the boy. But alas! The boy did not bother to answer him. Tired of his journey, he rested under a shady tree. Suddenly, a woman passed by. He immediately stood up and asked the name of the place. Since the woman can’t understand foreign language and assuming this that this tall and white man is asking the name of the birds he catches, the woman answered “AGBAAN”.
He was just across the last creek where he met an old man. “Buenas Dias” was usual greetings of the Spaniards, smilingly he asked again the name of the place. Just the same, the old man responded AGBAAN, for the old man taught it was the name of the bird that he asking for.
Many Spaniards surrounds him all were astonished of the abundant catch of their brother. One by one asked him the name of the place where he caught the birds he hunted, he responded AGBAAN. Tired of inquiries, he answered them “AGBAN”. Letter A was omitted. Ah, Agban! Spaniards chorused. Finally, the Spaniards Christianized this place AGBAN. And from the time on, the people called the place as AGBAN originated from the bird “AGBAAN”
