History

During the 18th century this barangay was occupied by Moro from the western island of Mindanao, because of Spaniards expansion and search for exotic tropical species ( which failed ) and to spread Roman Catholicm, a Filipino Priest named Belindo was assigned here to develop their lives into religious conversion, a concrete church was erected and there live the priest, but due to spread of some news thet mostly of the Filipino Priest was engaged in Illustrados ( Munteeneers of Against to spaniards ) many native Priest was imprisoned or exile but the fate of father Belindo was not among them they beheaded him, besides of his service to the residents and great conversion of people to cristianity, the resident loved him very much to pay for his service they named this Barangay after him Belen.

During the Japanese regime this barangay paid heavily in destruction that old concrete church was destroyed and our higest peak the Canibag hill was occupied for garrison purpose by the Japanes forces.

Ever since fishing and farming are the main source of living of our residents . belen was located 18 km north Naga City, 5 km. Northeast of Calabanga proper going to the Municipality of Tinambac, geography our Barangay was located at the hearth of four barangays to the east is Barangay binanuaanan, to the North is the Barangay Manguiring, and Barangay Bonot sta Rosa respectively to the west is our pride the graetest queen the San Miguel Bay and to the south is the Barangay Palbo . The sleepy barangay become productive when the bumpy and muddy service road connecting to the provincial road of Camarines Sur going to Naga City and to Tinambac was contructed to all weather type of road. The southeast Boundary is easily recognize by 1st beautiful hill calla canibag.

Barangay belen was one of the eleven coastal barangay and also one of the 12 oldest Barangay in Calabanga, Camarines Sur. The first Tenyente Del Barrio was Juan Belleza the good service of the Belleza Family continued up to present.
